    Gecko's Terrace Garden

Every time I try and remember the places that I’ve dined, there is always a plethora of memories: occasion, ambiance & decor, and then the food. I can remember visiting this restaurant, and what the ambiance was like, and I also remember the food being “pretty good.” I say that in quotes, because of the dishes that I ordered not being entirely unique. However, I would recommend this places to eat in Itaewon if you are looking for Spanish tapas, and drinks in Itaewon. Read more

  • Craft Beer and Pizza in Seoul

    Bonny’s Pizza Pub

    bonnys pizza

I grew up thinking that pizza only came in the form of Domino’s or Pizza Hut delivery, and it wasn’t until I discovered Shakey’s Pizza (Mojo potatoes anyone???) when I was a young child that I realized that it came in many different shapes and forms. I’ve learned to love pizza and the different types and styles that people make of it. Bonny’s Pizza Pub in Haebangchon is a relatively new pizza joint that also has self-serve craft bottles of beer. • Itaewon Festival 2012

    itaewon festival

Seoul is definitely a great place for all things new and cool. With the inception of Psy taking over the globe with his “Gangnam Style” phenomenon, the cultural relevance and imprint that Korea is making has been intriguing to say the least. I believe that Korea, specifically Seoul, will continue to thrive in many ways. The Itaewon Festival is going on this weekend and it will be jam packed with food, trinkets to shop for, shows, and just a good time. If you want to eat some good food in Seoul, check out the festival as there are dozens upon dozens of different cuisines you can sample from various nations. The Itaewon Global Village Festival celebrates the cultural diversity that is found in Korea, and the main street of this “expat” neighborhood is closed off for this celebration.

It was interesting to see the native Korean’s engaging in the different cultures and cuisines of the world. Also interesting to see Gary Payton (aka “The Glove”) out and about in the neighborhood doing some endorsement work. If you’re looking for just a good time, something definitely worth checking out.

  • The Best Mexican Food in Seoul (?)

    Vatos Urban Tacos

    mexican food in seoul

Whenever people talk about Mexican food, I hope that places like El Pollo Loco, or Taco Bell don’t come to mind. I have yet to experience the best Mexican cuisines in the world, but I feel like I have had the privilege of trying some of the best tacos in the world. With this benchmark, I have become more particular about what a good taco should taste like. Vatos Urban Tacos, in Itaewon, may have the best Mexican food in Seoul. This restaurant in Seoul provides excellent quality in terms of their ingredients, taste, and presentation and serves up an array of “Tacos, Margaritas, and everything in between,”… a Seoulgrub favorite!
